Transcription: By 1829, for all intents and purposes, the Capitol is completed. It was completed by an architect named Bullfinch who succeeded Latrobe. And we had the two wings and a dome. And that dome was a wooden dome with a copper overlay. Bullfinch was asked to design a dome. He didn't want a tall dome like this. It was only 90 feet but he considered it tall. He wanted a lower dome. Congress insisted on the taller dome. It remained there until about 1863 when the other dome that we have, the present dome of the Congress, of the Capitol was built.
